A Whole New World – Joshua – New Shoes

You ever heard that statement “Man, I’d hate to be in their shoes” or “Man, how do you fill those shoes?”. Not like my boy tavin but you get the point. The idea of stepping into someone’s shoes like a boss or a parent. Feeling like well how am I supposed to do this. Joshua in the old testament he felt the same way because he had to fill in Moses’s shoes. It tells us in Joshua chapter 1, “just as I was with Moses so I will be with you”. “Joshua, I will not leave you nor forsake you so be strong and courageous”. I mean the pressure and the mantle of leadership that he must have felt. I mean the pinnacle, Moses. I have to step into his shoes. The one that led the Israelites out of a 400-year period of slavery. The one that God gave the ten commandments. He built the ark of the covenant and now I have to lead the Israelites into the promised land. Wow, I mean, maybe he felt a little intimidated. Maybe he felt a little deflated or not good enough or not smart enough and maybe a little insecure.

But it reminds us of this important truth that God does not call the equipped, he equips the called. God does not call the equipped, he equips the called. Then we need to trust in his assignment that he has given us. Are you trusting in the assignment that God has given you?

You know, maybe you’re a new parent, and, if you’re honest, you felt like maybe you were going to be equipped to be a parent and you found out really quickly you’re not equipped. Especially because they keep changing on us. They keep moving and shifting into new seasons, into new worlds and it’s like whoa and it can be exhausting and draining. But God has called you to that assignment .So be strong, be courageous and trust in the assignment that he has given you. Maybe you know the way the cards fell and you didn’t sign up for it but you are the one who was supposed to be a caregiver for a family member. that is a loved one of yours and you feel helpless. You feel like how am I supposed to do this. I don’t know how to do this and sometimes you just feel a little lost in it. But remember to be strong, be courageous and trust in the assignment that God has given you that he has called you to. Maybe for whatever reason there’s a friend that wants to lean into you to ask the bigger faith questions but you don’t feel smart enough. It’s kind of a little intimidating to you. Be strong, be courageous and trust in the assignment that he has for you. Are you running away from an assignment that he’s called you to? Or maybe do you feel a little deflated or you feel a little drained out that you want to give up on the assignment that he’s given to you. Be strong, be courageous and trust in his assignment for you.
